"Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times." — they say. And that's true. While the whole world is making efforts to contain the coronavirus, WePlay! has launched its own charity tournament: WeSave! Charity Play. All the 120 000 USD of the prize pool will go to fight the infection, and, well, let's reveal a secret, all the talents of our studio also will work completely free for the good of the common goal.

You can browse our talents, casters, and analytics here. Everyone has their own motives, but we're all in this together. We've asked all of them about their motivation to participate.

For example, Admir "LizZard" Salkanović says that he's worried for his mother and the whole world:

Major and Minor being canceled was a real bummer so here we are, on the frontlines, fighting to kill this Coronavirus so that DPC can continue and Dota can return once again! Jokes aside, my mum works in healthcare and I worry for her. She's actually the one on the frontlines and I hope we can speed up the process of defeating or slowing down this threat at least a little bit, for all of those exposed.

Muriëlle "Kips" Huisman also has something to say.

I joined the talent crew because this event is a perfect reaction to the current situation: We're contributing to solving the global crisis, we're keeping competitive Dota 2 going despite the Majors being cancelled, and we're providing entertainment and company to all those who are currently staying inside. I'm very grateful to get to join!

Matt "Danog" Joyce thanks WePlay! for creating opportunities.

I think it's great that WePlay! is setting a positive example of how esports can continue to provide entertainment to millions of people, despite the challenges from COVID-9. People are doing their part by practicing social distancing, and so an online event is perfect for engaging the Dota 2 community.

The fact that WePlay! is donating the entire prize pool, including donations from sponsors and viewers, to COVID-19 research is fantastic. Big props to the teams as well, who are committing their time to fundraise for this initiative. I want to play my part as well to support the event, along with the other talent who have come on board. We’re all in this together!

Jared "Nomad" Bajina is worried about his relatives but believes in the best.

Many of my family and friends are vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus either due to compromised immune systems or old age, and in circumstances like this, it's very rare that you have the option to do something about it! My mother has worked as a nurse all her life and she kept telling me that not enough was being done about this virus, so when the opportunity came up to join the WeSave! event and do something about it I had to contribute!

Robson "TeaGuvnor" Merritt understands the importance of Dota and esports nowadays.

Around the world, we are going through unknown & troubling times. Dota has always been a game that provides people an escape from issues they may face in real life. So being able to volunteer for an event that will provide such an escape was a no brainer. More importantly, it will also bring awareness & funding to assist in research against COVID-19! I am very excited to see competitive Dota back in action, especially for such a good cause!

Gabriel "Lyrical" Cruz stays positive.

How could you not want to do something for charity at this point? We're all stuck up in our house biding our time and trying to distract ourselves from whats going on while staying informed. For myself at least it's a very helpless feeling so I wanted to try and do something to help if I could.
