SuperJJ vs. Fiasco
Just like most of the WePlay! Artifact MT:A players, SuperJJ brought a Red-Green ramp deck to the group stage. His version uses Omniknight as secondary Green hero and two copies of Smash Their Defenses!. The deck also sports Unearthed Secrets, the card drawing tool dpmlicious needed badly yesterday. SuperJJ had to cut one copy of Spring the Trap and Stonehall Elite each.
His Red-Blue deck sports the standard business package of stalling tools from blue arsenal like Annihilation, and At Any Cost, while Kanna adds some aggressive options. SuperJJ’s win condition with this roster is to have a robust early-mid game and close it with Time of Triumph.
F1asco brought a unique version of Mono-Red with Timbersaw and Beastmaster. We’ve seen Primal Roar winning games in previous days and this deck has much potential overall. F1asco incorporates Tresdin's Standards (x2) and many low-cost cards to take advantage of the consistent buffs. Enough Magic! (2x) and Fight Through the Pain (x3) give the deck a lot of flexibility.
The “obligatory” Red-Green ramp also has Beastmaster in it instead of the standard Bristleback. F1asco chose Lycan as the second green hero and included Unearthed Secrets (x3) for additional card draw.
Both players brought interesting decks with a solid foundation. I prefer Red-Blue to Mono-Red and give the advantage to SuperJJ.
SuperJJ (2) > F1asco (1)
StrifeCro vs. TAAndyWand
StrifeCro runs the standard Mono-Blue and Red-Green ramp decks. He cut all copies of Bronze Legionnaire from his list but has all three Emissary of the Quorum cards (the standard is two). This version of the deck could have some problems with control, but it all comes down to card draws.
The Mono-Blue deck uses 41 cards. StrifeCro plays without Diabolic Revelation and uses only two copies of Aghanim's Sanctum. He also included Glyph of Confusion (x1) and two copies of Bolt of Damocles.
TAAndyWand has a mono-blue deck; he included three Aghanim's Sanctum cards and runs without Glyph of Confusion or the second Bolt of Damocles. This deck also lacks any Diabolic Revelation for draw and synergy with Prey on the Weak.
The Red-Green ramp uses Dark Seer as the second Green hero and doesn’t have a single draw card.
The players use two mirror decks, and the outcome of the series is hard to predict. I will rely on the statistics give a slight advantage to the contestant, who joined the tournament through the qualifiers.
StrifeCro (1) < TAAndyWand (2)
Predictions for the rest of the group
SuperJJ (1) < TAAndyWand (2)
