The popular Russian esports organisation, Virtus.pro announced earlier today that it has changed its corporate identity in celebration of The International 2019 and its Asian fans.
The International 2019 will be the first time the prestigious esports event will be held in China, giving teams the opportunity to connect with their Asian fanbase. This is exactly what Virtus.pro has decided to do, employing the same sports design studio that spearheaded last year's branding change, Quberten.
In creating the new design, they added distinctive elements of Chinese culture: "red colour, hieroglyphs, ornaments and the main symbol of the country - the panda." They've also taken a name Chinese fans use to describe the team's playstyle and added it to their branding. It means “powerful slaughter”.
General Manager of Virtus.pro, Roman Dvoryankin spoke in a statement about how August has brought a lot of change to the organisation. From its presence on Chinese social networks to this new brand image for TI9. “Development in China is a strategic direction for us, and we respect the traditions and tastes of the local audience.”
The new uniforms will be available for sale at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, during the final stage of The International 2019 on August 25. Fans from other regions can pre-order on the Fragstore.
