According to a report from HLTV, tournament organizers and the Counter-Strike Professional Players' Association (CSPPA) are currently discussing a change in the CS:GO 2020 off-season dates, wanting them to take place earlier in the year. This change would try and maximize the rest of the 2020 season by having players off during known, or presumably known, dates in which countries and events will still be on lockdown.

The current off-season for teams is July 15 - August 15. The new proposed off-season dates would be from June 29 - July 31. However, these new dates cause a huge issue with ESL One Cologne, one of the most anticipated events of the year. ESL One Cologne is currently scheduled for July 6 - 12.

There has been a lot of doubt surrounding ESL One Cologne since Germany extended its ban for major events until the end of August due to the coronavirus epidemic. These talks about advancing the player break for earlier in the season could be the final nail in the coffin for ESL One Cologne or at least its originally intended schedule. There is the possibility that the event will be moved to a studio location rather than a large venue to ensure it happens. But we will have to wait and see.
