Ghost Recon Wildlands is not even remotely an old game – it released just two years ago, and there’s space to expand the experience further. Still, Ubisoft might be already working on the next entry in the series – much like it did with The Division announcing its sequel two years after the initial release.
It looks like Ubisoft is actually hinting at the next Ghost Recon, and the timing shouldn’t be surprising given that E3 2019 is just a month away. The developers have created a website dedicated to a made-up fictional company, which is present only in Ghost Recon Wildlands and is called Skell Technology. If you head over to this link, you’ll find the date for the SkellCon event, which obviously isn’t real. What’s real is the aforementioned date – May 9, to be exact. That particular day is likely reserved for the initial announcement of the next Ghost Recon, while the full reveal might be scheduled to happen at E3 2019. Although the overall situation is strongly hinting at the sequel, there’re still chances that we could see an announcement for a huge content drop – like an add-on, for instance.
On the other hand, Ubisoft has focused on “Games as Service” model, and it’s reasonable for the company to announce a new title, which would fully utilize it. Supporting a two year old game doesn’t sound as exciting.
