Bandai Namco released Tekken 7 version 3.31 yesterday, and though it brought with it a couple of changes, it wasn’t everything the developer had initially planned.
Thirty-three new balance changes were introduced to the game, with the infamous Leroy Smith receiving the brunt of nerfs. Gigas and Katarina also got a handful of adjustments, with only ten characters changing overall.
According to the series director Katsuhiro Harada, the patch makes up only 25-30% of what was initially planned for the update. The reason for this drastic reduction in adjustments is the lockdown measures imposed on Japan resulting from its current state of emergency regarding the coronavirus. These measures led to the suspension of work for the game’s tuning and debugging teams, as well as other affiliated companies.
We were planning more tuning updates for TWT2020. However, due to the declaration of emergency, the tuning and debugging department & affiliated companies were suspended from work. Therefore, the current update is about 25-30%. Give us a little more time.https://t.co/kD7ZlVu1Fq— Katsuhiro Harada (@Harada_TEKKEN) April 21, 2020
With over 12,000 positive COVID-19 cases, more game development could be interrupted as the Japanese government does all it can to flatten the curve. You can find the full Tekken 7 version 3.31 patch notes here.
