North American esports pro Hunter "SicK" Mims announced his retirement from competitive CS:GO to start a career in Riot Game's upcoming tactical shooter, VALORANT.
SicK began his professional CS:GO career in 2014 playing for Ignite. Over the years, he's played for big organizations like Complexity Gaming before and after it's rebranding, Team SoloMid, Rouge, and Misfits Gaming. He had spent just over a month with Chaos Esports Club before he decided to switch disciplines.
One of his most significant accolades was a 3rd-4th place finish with Team SoloMid at the ECS Season 1 Finals in 2016. He's also competed in the Major qualifiers for ELEAGUE Boston, FACEIT London, and StarLadder Berlin.
In a tweet, SicK stated that his decision to move was inevitable, but VALORANT just happened to show up at the right time.
After 5 years and almost 800 official maps played, I’m taking a step back from competitive CS:GO. The game has become incredibly stale and tedious for me. Valorant comes at a perfect time but it was inevitable anyway. I’ve spent my entire adult life in this game, it’s been fun.— Hunter Mims (@SicK_cs) April 21, 2020
SicK's last CS:GO appearance was during Flashpoint Season 1 in which Chaos Esports Club finished in 7th-8th place.
