OG и Vitality сразятся за право остаться на Flashpoint 3

It's the fifth game day of Flashpoint Season 3, and every team has played their initial upper bracket matchup. Before we lay out today's matches, let's talk about the crazy matches we saw yesterday! The first match of the night was between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Anonymo Esports, and what a series it was! The match was delayed for a few hours, as NiP claimed to have connection issues to the server. According to a statement released by the Swedish organization, the team had fluctuating 30-40% packet loss throughout the series. Changing the servers or using a VPN didn't seem to resolve the issue, meanwhile Anonymo experienced no such issues and were happy to wait until the issues were resolved to play the series. FACEIT eventually decided that the match had to be played out otherwise NiP would be forced to forfeit, so the two teams played it out. NiP won the first map of Overpass 16-3, which lead to many in the community criticizing the team, claiming that 30-40% loss is absolutely unplayable and that the team was exagerating their issues if they won so dominantly. Going into Nuke, the Swedes won the first half 9-6, but the Poles managed to mount an amazing comeback on their CT side thanks to Wiktor "mynio" Kruk. After closing out Nuke 16-13, Anonymo forced the third map decider of Mirage, which was another very close affair. The first half finished 8-7 in favor of NiP, but no team was able to get a significant advantage and the match went into overtime. Anonymo was able to complete the upset, picking up the map 19-17 and winning the series 2-1. While there's no denying that NiP had connection issues throughout the series, Anonymo still played very well, and the team's IGL mynio had one of the best series of his career.

The second match of the evening, FunPlus Phoenix vs. HYENAS, was much less eventuful, but props to both teams for playing so late into the night following the delays. The Danish HYENAS weren't really able to get the ball rolling on their T side of Vertigo, losing the first half 5-10, and while they won 6 rounds on the CT side, FPX closed it out winning 16-11. Despite Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye's best efforts on Inferno, FPX absolutely stomped the Danes, winning the map 16-6 and the series 2-0.

Tonight, we're going into the lower bracket, with the first match of the evening being Team Vitality vs. OG at 19:00 (MSK). Vitality really struggled versus Double Poney, with Jayson "Kyojin" Nguyen Van and Kévin "misutaaa" Rabier having notably poor performances. Meanwhile, OG performed rather well against Astralis, especially the team's young star Shahar "flameZ" Shushan. If Mateusz "mantuu" Wilczewski can show up in tonight's series like we know he can, OG would be heavily favored to win the matchup. Vitality has really good players, but the lack of experience on misutaaa and Kyojin was very apparent at the start of the week. One of them showing up alongside Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut is an absolute win condition for the French squad, and Dan "apEX" Madesclaire's calling will need to be on point.

The second series of the evening is Complexity Gaming vs. Fnatic at 22:00 (MSK). Complexity played pretty well against BIG on Tuesday, but Fnatic still failed to show up in their match versus mosuesports. It'd be an understatement to say that COL are the favorites to win, considering just how poorly the Swedes have performed in recent times. Jack "Jackinho" Ström Mattsson is visibly getting more comfortable on the AWP, but Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson and Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin haven't been able to consistently perform the way they did last year, which has really hurt the team's overall performances. When your stars are struggling to frag, it's usually up to the in-game leader to compensate with some new strategies, but Fnatic have also struggled in that department recently, and just don't seem like they're able to keep up against the opposition. While losing today's matches doesn't fully eliminate them from the competition, the teams would be unable to continue in the bracket and could only play consolidation matches to secure a few extra RMR points.
