Riot Games has announced Pringles as a League of Legends European Championship sponsor. The deal will have Pringles cans all over Europe carry codes which will represent entries in daily raffle draws.
Two lucky winners a day will receive an exclusive Legacy skin until September 8. The six top LEC teams will compete for a €200,000 prize pool and a spot at the League of Legends World Championship 2019. The event takes place in Athens, Greece.
Head of sponsorship & business development EU esport at Riot Games, Alban Dechelotte stated in a release: “Pringles has been leading the charge when it comes to mainstream integration in esports. We’ve seen the fantastic work they’ve done and we’re excited to build them a tailor-made campaign to help create a meaningful connection with our fans. This will be the first time Legacy skins will be made available in stores and within easy reach for our players.”
Pringles will also hold another raffle which ends on September 30, to select two winners that will receive a special experience at the LEC studio in Berlin. It includes a backstage tour and the opportunity to interact with the LEC casters in a meet-and-greet.
Marketing manager snacks Northern Europe at the Kellogg Company, Dominik Schafhaupt also commented on the deal: “We’ve been steadily developing our esports footprint to gain stronger brand recognition with the community. We’ve been present at a series of major tournaments generating content and arranging activations but it’s important we keep expanding our outreach and that we’re able to speak to esports fans across different titles."
"We’ve seen the energy and passion of the LEC fans and were excited to work with the team at Riot to help us build our relationship with their community for the Summer Finals.”
Pringles extended its partnership with ESL in February to cover more events across the Nordic, Central and Eastern European regions. Since its rebranding, the LEC has been able to secure a number of great partnerships with no signs of slowing down.
