At E3 2018, Bethesda had presented two major projects in early development: the sci-fi Starfield and the hotly anticipated The Elder Scrolls VI. Both games received only small teasers without special details. This year the situation will repeat and we will not get any new details at the conference in Los Angeles.
This was confirmed by Todd Howard, director of Bethesda Games Studios, at PAX East. Howard said that none of these games will be discussed at the so-much-awaited show. The presentation will focus on the upcoming releases, such as Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein: Youngblood and The Elder Scrolls: Blades. It is difficult to say whether Starfield is expected on the current generation of consoles, but The Elder Scrolls VI is only likely to appear on the next-gen.
People are still trying to figure out where would TES VI take place — some saw the High Rock mountains in the teaser, some are linking the ancient ruins to Orsinium, the orcs homeland capital. All we can say for sure is that the game will be about Tamriel. Pete Hines, the president of Bethesda Softworks, explained approximate release dates at the end of the last year:
If we talk about the release time, the wait will last about the same as it took between Fallout 3 (2008) and Skyrim (2011), then to Fallout 4 (2015) and now to Fallout 76 (2018).
The approximate period of time will remain. At least I count on it.
Hines now hopes that the traditional gap between the releases of Bethesda Game Studios products will not widen in three or four years. If we start from simple logic and build on the release queue previously announced by Todd Howard, it turns out that Starfield will be released in 2021, and The Elder Scrolls VI in 2024. If we are unlucky, the releases will shift for another one or two years ahead.
