Na’Vi had a decent run at ESL One Mumbai and fell short only against the teams, qualified to the next Major. In the matches against Mineski and Keen Gaming, Na’Vi looked weaker but not utterly hopeless. You can’t say “Na’Vi is back” after this kind of performance, but the team definitely has a good dynamic.
Shortly after ESL One Mumbai, Evgeniy "Chuvash" Makarov tweeted, “My watch has ended,” announcing his departure from Na’Vi in the spirit of the time. Shortly after the tweet, Na’Vi released an official press-release announcing Bakyt "Zayac" Emilzhanov a new pos 4 and thanking Chuvash for his time spent with the team.
We don’t know why Chuvash got thrown into the chopping block, maybe it’s because Na’Vi saw him as the weakest link, or perhaps player expressed the dislike for his current team, or Zayac seemed a better fit in the current setup. According to the official statement, the team reached its peek, and further progress requires a change.
In any case, it seems like Na’Vi management is choosing to gradually improve the team with limited changes, rather than making a new one from scratch. Unless a miracle happens, Natus Vincere will miss TI 2019, meaning that the addition of Zayac was made to prepare for the next DPC season. Making preparations for many months ahead shows that Na’Vi is invested in the current roster and will be helping players despite the poor results currently.
The current roster of Natus Vincere:
- Vladislav "Crystallize" Krystanek
- Idan "MagicaL" Vardanian
- Evgeniy "Blizzy" Ree
- Bakyt "Zayac" Emilzhanov
- Akbar "SoNNeikO" Butaev
