Epic Games has signed a partnership deal with IMG Media to manage the distribution and production of the Fortnite World Cup. The event takes place this weekend at the 23,000 capacity Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City.
All content will be delivered through an encoded stream from IMG's production facility in the UK. IMG’s airline and cruise line sports channel, Sport 24 Extra will also broadcast the Fortnite World Cup live during international flights on specific airlines.
Oliver Boden, head of esports Europe & international sales at IMG had this to say: “We are delighted to be working with Epic Games to distribute The Fortnite World Cup 2019 media rights and tapping into new territories and markets worldwide.”
The Fortnite World Cup has a total prize pool of $30 million, with the winners of the duos and solos tournaments receiving $3 million each. Other events include the Celebrity Pro-AM and the Creative Championship.
