Virtual and augmented reality are the current technological peak the humanity is trying to conquer. Many modern solutions allow us to immerse in virtual reality completely, but they aren’t accessible to your regular Jonny due to the price and complexity. During its CES 2019 press conference, HTC announced new devices that will help to breach the gap between a regular user and the world of VR.
Eye-Tracking
The newest generation of Vive Pro scheduled for release in Q2 2019 will sport an integrated eye-tracking technology. The breakthrough will bring VR to people with physical impairments and to the industries that require to use the headset in combination with other devices than the controllers.
According to HTC, Lockheed Martin is going to include Vive Pro Eye in flight training; the instructors will be able to observe the flights from the trainee’s POV, which is going to improve the feedback loop.
Vive Cosmos
The new headset called Vive Cosmos is supposed to be the device that you can use outside your house. It’s a standalone VR solution which supposedly connects to your phone via Bluetooth. The headset uses the familiar ring-shaped controllers and doesn’t have extremal tracking technology.
HTC hasn’t disclosed the date or the price of Vive Cosmos yet, but the first developers kit should ship early this year.
