Бывшая бразильская киберспортсменка приговорена к 116 годам тюрьмы

Shayene "shAy" Victorio, a former CS:GO pro player, has reportedly been sentenced to 116 years in prison. She was convicted on charges of embezzlement and theft relating to a business she ran with her ex-partner between 2013 and 2017.

According to Brazilian media, the former couple scammed 118 victims that ordered goods from their online retail store by neither delivering the goods nor providing refunds. The Public Ministry of the State of São Paulo has allegedly convicted her of the crime and sentenced her to 116 years in prison. Brazilian law states that a person can only be jailed a maximum of 30 years for a single crime, so there's some hope for an appeal.

shAy has spoken out against the situation through Brazilian news site UOL and her lawyer, Antônio Carneiro. The statement reads; 

"shAy is now the target of defamation on the internet, with people creating fake pages to attack her, simply for the purpose of gossip and malevolence." 

"We will appeal against the sentence that we consider inhumane, awaiting a new decision and under the guise of the principle of innocence, as it can only be someone found guilty when the sentence is final," it adds.

In an Instagram post, she further defends herself by stating that her livelihood hinges on her image and reputation, so to commit a crime such as this would make no sense.

The Brazilian played Counter-Strike for 11 years with Keyd Stars Female, her last team. She has also played for other teams like paiN Girls and mibr Girls. shAy retired from competitive CS:GO in May 2019 and helped promote female esports in Brazil.
