You might recall the story with Fallout 76 when it turned out that the in-game lockpicks, represented as bobby pins, weighed 60 times more than the real ones. That particular problem was insanely frustrating, and Bethesda received a lot of criticism for that.
The fans were pretty vocal expressing their disappointment all over the Internet, although one particular player went a lot further in terms of creativity. This story has never been made public before; during the recent livestream on Twitch, Todd Howard has told a remarkable anecdote in just a few sentences. He said that he once received a package, which was, in fact, a box of bobby pins. It had a short letter attached to it saying, “Weigh these.” Howard was not only kind enough to tell this story, but he also admitted that it was the most creative letter he got. And you should understand that Bethesda is getting tons of letters. Thankfully, the company has no issues with self-irony.
Overweighed bobby pins were obviously not the only problem with Fallout 76. The game had a troubling launch, although it seems like Bethesda has taken the right route to make the project a lot better than it initially was.
