The official EVO Twitter account recently updated fans on the fate of the upcoming event. It will still go ahead as planned, but the organizers are keeping a close eye on the situation regarding COVID-19.

Several FGC events have been canceled or postponed due to the spreading virus. Even tournament circuits like Tekken World Tour, SNK World Championship, Capcom Pro Tour, and Smash World Tour have removed tournaments that were scheduled to take place between March and April. However, CEO Dreamland still took place last weekend, even with its competitions no longer providing World Tour points, and a few other TOs might choose to do the same.
EVO caused quite a stir earlier this year when it revealed that Mortal Kombat 11 would not be a main event this year. Instead, we see newcomer Granblue Fantasy Versus and a special Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 tournament joins the main lineup. The latter is a celebratory tournament to mark the game’s 20th anniversary. The rest of the lineup consists of Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Tekken 7, and SoulCalibur VI.
EVO 2020 will take place at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, from July 31 - August 2.
