ESL and Valve have announced the postponement of ESL One Los Angeles 2020, the Dota 2 Major that was to take place next week.
Only hours before the announcement, ESL revealed that it was leaning towards not having a live audience for the event. According to gaming insider Rod “Slasher” Breslau, the new decision was made as a direct result of United States President Donald Trump’s new travel suspension regarding 26 European countries. Foreign nationals seeking entry into the US after leaving any one of these countries within the last 14 days will be barred entry.

It’s interesting to note that ESL Pro League CS:GO Season 11 was not completely canceled but instead turned into an online-only event. Both games share the same developer and organizer, so it’s not yet clear why the difference in their decisions. A total of three European teams qualified for the event, Team Secret, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and OG.
Refunds are being made for all tickets purchased, while the event is indefinitely postponed until the situation improves. ESL One Los Angeles 2020 was supposed to take place from March 15-22, 2020.
