ESL has released what set of actions they are planning to take to control crowd interference at future events.
Michal "Carmac" Blicharz, VP of Pro Gaming at ESL, took to Reddit and explained what ESL planned to do to cut down on crowd interference. This issue is a highly controversial topic circling in the competitive CS:GO community currently. Some have suggested soundproof booths to combat crowd interference, but that solution also tends to have downsides.
Here is what Blicharz and ESL will implement at future events:
We will be running PSA videos and we will talk to them via the stage MC in order to educate them on what we think is appropriate and what isn't. Cheering before a knife kill, cheering during trigger discipline moments, cheering for things the player shouldn't be able to see, etc. are moments when the audience waits until the deed is done. Establishing a fan etiquette in any sport is not easy, but I think we can get there.
If the audience refuses to adhere to these rules, the observer will turn off x-ray vision for a minimum of 20 minutes for each instance.
The first event that will display these new guidelines will be IEM Katowice on February 24 - March 1.
