The Original Sin dilogy brought us a wonderfully creative use of elements – fire, ice, water, and poison were not just simple sources of spells, but they also created respective surfaces on the ground. Once combined, these surfaces could lead to the creation of explosive clouds or electrified puddles. Divinity: Fallen Heroes continues and expands this mechanics with a new type of surface.
This new type of surface is created when a new element – called sulphurium – when it hits the ground. On impact, it creates a highly powerful covering, which can be used to perform rocket jumps. As Sven Vincke explained, you can shoot a crossbow beneath you to trigger the surface and create an explosive momentum that will send your character flying a trajectory towards a different spot of the area. When you perform this jump, nearby enemies will be throws away by the initial blast. Obviously, the dangerous substance can be also used by your opponents to hurt your characters. If you fall on sulphurium, it can cause a harmful explosion and potentially kill your warriors. Still, this new element is a great source for creating new combos.
Just imagine jumping off a sulphurium spot and landing on another one in the middle of the enemies’ group. What a joy! Hopefully, there’s more to Divinity: Fallen Heroes than just that.
