NFL running back for the New York Jets Le’Veon Bell, Super Smash Bros. pro, Juan "Hungrybox" Debiedma, and esports organization Team Liquid all joined forces to host The Box, a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate online tournament.

Featuring a $10,000 prize pool, it’s currently the largest online Smash tournament, with 8,158 registered participants. Besides Hungrybox, other notable players include Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman, Ezra “Samsora” Morris, Enrique "Maister" Hernández Solís, Brian "Cosmos" Kalu, Leonardo "MkLeo" Lopez Perez, Gavin "Tweek" Dempsey, Samuel "Dabuz" Buzby, and Eric "ESAM" Lew. 

It was in January that Bell competed in his first Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament in Columbus, Ohio, called Ultimate Pizza 30. Seemingly getting a taste for competitive play after finishing in 17th place, it comes as no surprise that he’s also competing in The Box. The NFL player was eliminated in the top 256, while Hungrybox finished in 49th place after losing to Devlin “Frosty” Arellano.

PGRU #1 player, MkLeo, failed to make it into the top 32 after losing 0-2 to Pedro “Prodigy” Alonso of Armada. Frosty came close to entering the top 8 but was denied by Dabuz in Losers Round 4, but he did manage to eliminate Maister in the match right before.

The Box took place from May 8-10, with 8,158 players competing for the lion share of a $10,000 prize pool.
