AVANGAR has announced that it is ceasing all operations, according to a Twitter post, via the organization's official account.
On this day usually full of laughs we want to say goodbye. On April 1st of 2020 AVANGAR ceased its operations to focus on building and developing esports venues in Qazaqstan. The initial decision was so hard to make after all 3 years of our legacy. pic.twitter.com/YMoSEnSGye— AVANGAR (@avangarkz) April 1, 2020
AVANGAR came onto the CS:GO scene in the middle of 2017. Their dark horse CS:GO team who won BLAST Pro Series Moscow and made it to grand finals at the StarLadder Berlin Major was picked up by Virtus.pro last year. AVANGAR also announced its new AVANGAR Q squad earlier in 2020.
Yongun Kim, CEO of AVANGAR, released a statement regarding the decision to close down the organization, and thanked fans for being a part of the journey:
It's difficult to say goodbye after all that we have done for the community, players and company staff. To be a part of the process behind an esports organisation is incredible, and I will always remember with warmth the days when I spent time with our teams and saw that they discovered something new with us. I would like to thank every single person that played their part in our history, and also those that followed it.
This announcement comes amid a huge drought in esports events due to the coronavirus epidemic. This event has caused immense amounts of strain on every industry around the world, and esports are no exception.
