The third edition of EGS Cup recently took place in Tokyo, Japan. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament had 128 registered players.
Many of Japan’s finest participated in the event alongside some international players, like Yuta "Abadango" Kawamura, Sota "zackray" Okada, Shuto "Shuton" Moriya, and James "VoiD" Makekau-Tyson. Unlike many other Smash Ultimate tournaments, this one featured only a Singles competition with no Doubles event.
Shuton and zackray emerged from the Winners Bracket while ProtoBanham and Abadango made it through the Losers Bracket to face off in the Final Singles Bracket.
3-0 was the order of the day as this scoreline was repeated in the first three matches of the final leg of the tournament. zackray beat Shuton to secure his spot in the Grand Finals while ProtoBanham lost to Abadango in the Losers. Meeting Shuton in the Losers Finals, Abadango defeated him also, moving on to the Grand Finals.
Things were different this time around as zackray only managed to take the first game before Abadango seized control. The Shinobism Gaming player almost achieved a full sweep but zackray stopped him in the fourth game, winning it and the next to earn the tournament crown for GameWith.
