Normally when asked if you are aware of any particular thing  happening, it's usually because that thing is already public knowledge. Not in this case.

World of Warcraft players were met with a surprise when filling a recent survey from Blizzard. It centered around past level boost purchases, but also included a question which asked, “are you aware that the maximum level of 120 will be reduced in the future?” This implies that the reduction or “level squish”, is already certain.

What this means is that it will take players a lot less time to level up new characters so they are able to participate in the game's latest content. Yet, something as simple as an increased amount of experience points could just as easily solved the issue.

This development isn't completely out of the blue though as game Director Ion Hazzikostas did mention a possible level squish in July 2018. He also said it would be a huge technical difficulty, so why they've opted to go this route now is a big question.

MMORPGs are known for giving players new abilities or perks after every few levels. This level squish has the potential to reduce the levels between each perk or maybe even provide one at each level up. The game's players are divided on how they feel about this development but we shouldn't forget that Blizzard hasn't made an official statement regarding this change yet.

Could this be a typo or some other accident on the part of Blizzard? It remains to be seen.
