Why Hitman 2 will not have episodes
Decision to drop episodic distribution model is a step towards players
In a recent interview to GamesIndustry.biz, IO Interactive studio explained the reason why they decided to stop distributing Hitman 2 on the episode-by-episode basis.
Developers stated their main goal is to make gamers happy, not follow new “trendy bubble of games-as-a-service”. Here’s what Sven Liebold of IO Interactive had to say:
“The community means a lot to us, and I think it’s a very big step for the studio as well, because this essentially means that maybe there’s a Hitman 3, and a Hitman 4 as well. And this will all appear on the same timeline. Meaning that in a couple of years you may be able to play a game that goes to over 20 locations. And that’s super exciting for us”.
As far as we know, second installment of Hitman will receive a Hitman Legacy Pack expansion that will include all six locations from the first season. Those who own the last one will get the expansion for free.
The project release is planned for November 13.
