The World Electronic Sports Games has revealed details for the 2019-2020 season, which covers the games, qualifiers, dates, and more.
This season, Russian tournament organizer U Can Company will host the online qualifiers for CS:GO, CS:GO Female, Dota2 and StarCraft II. Registration for the online qualifier will begin on November 13, and this time teams are permitted to have a maximum of two players from other countries.
The format includes open and closed qualifier events, with the former using single-elimination and the latter double-elimination. This format might not be the case for all regions, but if so, that information will be available at a later date.
WESG is also bringing back the Asia Pacific Final this year. National teams from the region will need to qualify to attend the Kuala Lumpur event in January 2020. On the other hand, players from Africa, CIS, and Europe will be competing for a direct spot in the Grand Final.
WESG 2019-2020 features a total prize pool of $5,500,000 but has met a lot of criticism regarding its rules about nationality. You can find a schedule of all the qualifiers here, and those interested in becoming community casters can register here.
