Well, we finally got to the first CIS-confrontation (no matter how comically this phrase sounds)! The Pango fought with the newly minted participants on Minor - Old But Gold for reaching the quarter-final of the WePlay! Dota 2 Valentine Madness Upper Bracket.

The first game

Razor appeared in the Valentine Madness draft again. G from Old But Gold got him this time. Terrorblade became the second Core, and the support link consisted of Shadow Shaman and Clockwerk. The Pango supplied the stand-in Cooman with Anti-Mage, sending Naive- on Dazzle to the midlane. Pangolier, Shadow Demon and Jakiro completed The Pango’s draft.

The teams were engaged in a set of gold and items during the early game. Rare outputs to the mid or battles in the forest didn’t help rivals to identify a favourite. Nevertheless, The Pango began to stroll in wrong places starting from the 15th minute, giving their opponent kills that went one to another, and initiating losing fights. The score had reached a crushing 35:15 by the 30th minute. The Pango hopelessly fell behind in the items race and lost all three lanes in seven final minutes. Old But Gold led the series.

The second game

The Pango chose Queen of Pain, Juggernaut and Chaos Knight to implement the revenge. Old But Gold responded with their usual Terrorblade, Outworld Devourer and Sven as a meta support.

Old But Gold took the lead in the kills, but The Pango confidently kept the top of the net worth. Juggernaut’s free farm more than compensated for the unsuccessful clashes. Old But Gold was left without external towers by the 17th minute, and they lost the first Roshan. The Old’s Tier 3 on the hard lane fell by the 17th minute. The Pango’s advantage has grown to 13 thousand. Old But Gold lost the most important fight on the midlane in the late game: the buybacks and forced positioning couldn’t help. The Pango fully realised their picks and transferred the opposition to the third map.

The third game

The Pango repeated the Chaos Knight pick, put it in the mid in front of Huskar and stole Anti-Mage from their rivals. Old But Gold built their draft around Terrorblade again, picked Lina and Puck, as well as Undying who is dangerous in the early game.

At first, the confrontation on the map was equal. The score became 10:10 on the 10th minute, and the teams didn’t destroy a single Tier-3. The Pango’s heroes advantage in the net worth didn’t exceed one thousand.

But as soon as The Pango gained the initial items, they immediately went to realise their draft plans and succeeded. The OBGs were left without a midlane by the 27th minute and seriously sunk in gold. The upper barracks collapsed in a minute under heavy siege by The Pango. Naive-’s Huskar has become a real killing machine. After losing the fight at the lower shrine. Old But Gold didn’t wait for the outcome and admitted defeat.

According to the results of the series, The Pango will continue their performance in the Upper Bracket of WePlay! Dota 2 Valentine Madness, and Old But Gold fall into the Lower Bracket.

Enjoy the next game between Winstrike and Team Empire!
