The 2015 Call of Duty Championship is set to kick off tonight in Los Angeles, California. The three-day tournament will see 32 teams from 25 countries competing for $1 million in prize money.

The 2015 Call of Duty Championship is set to kick off tonight in Los Angeles, California. The three-day tournament will see 32 teams from 25 countries competing for $1 million in prize money. Activision and Xbox are running a promotion for the finals on the 29th of March, where viewers who watch the event via their Xbox 360 or Xbox One will receive Advanced Warfare micro-DLC for free.

Everyone who watches the finals on their Xbox One or Xbox 360 console live on March 29 or on demand through April 5 will automatically receive a free Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Nanotech Personalization Pack download code. In doing so, you will also be entered to win great prizes like the Xbox One Limited Edition Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Bundle, Xbox Live Gold Memberships, and Xbox Gift Cards!

All you have to do to win is follow these simple four steps: 

 

  1. Turn your Xbox on, log into Xbox Live, and select the Games section.
  2. Select the Call of Duty Championship icon and then click on the “Watch & Win” tile.
  3. Enter the sweepstakes by selecting “Enter Now.”
  4. Then download and use the Xbox Live Event Player app to watch the Call of Duty® Championship 2015 finals on March 29, or use the video on demand through to April 5.

 

Tournament Format and teams

 

The Call of Duty: Championship will be played over three days, with two different formats over the course of the tournament. The first section will be comprised of group play, where the qualified squads have been seeded into 8 groups with each group comprising of 4 teams. Each team will play a total of 3 matches, using a round robin format. The top two teams from each group will then progress to the single elimination portion of the event. The winner of the single-elimination will be awarded the title of 2015 Call of Duty: Championship world champions.

Prize Pool

 

There is a total of $1 million in cash to be handed out to the top 8 teams in the 2015 Call of Duty Championship, below is the layout of the prize pool: 

 

  • 1st: $400,000
  • 2nd: $200,000
  • 3rd: $120,000
  • 4th: $100,000
  • 5th: $70,000
  • 6th: $50,000
  • 7th: $35,000
  • 8th: $25,000
