In case you’ve felt a shortage of collectible card games on Steam, there’s a brand new one coming with cross-platform support. A blend of a real-life card game and a digital CCG called Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions launched on Android and iOS last year, and now the time has come for the game to expand onto computers.
On mobile devices Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions makes use of augmented reality to scan physical copies of cards and add them to your collection. This will be the case for the PC version as well, and you’ll have to link an appropriate mobile device to your account or simply use a webcam. There’s also a version for Nintendo Switch coming this year, and developers promise to include full cross-platform support within battles. Whether you can transfer progress from a mobile version to PC, remains unclear, but this should definitely be allowed. E.g. Hearthstone features cross-platform progress, and Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions is undoubtedly targeting the same core audience.
The game features four factions with distinctive style and a set of cards divided into several categories including heroes, spells, and units. Gameplay wise, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions is not that hard to learn, but you better take a look at the official website where you can find a comprehensive guide to the rules. The game releases on Steam in February.
