Over the weekend, we saw the ESL One Los Angeles 2020 - Online: Europe & CIS tournament come to an explosive end. After topping the Group Stage and a dominant showing in the Playoffs, Virtus.pro emerged victorious.
The CIS team won every single match it played in the Group Stage, losing a single game to only B8, Gambit Esports, and HellRaisers. Group A proved to be the dominant bracket as both Virtus.pro and second-place team OG defeated their Group B counterparts flawlessly. Unfortunately for OG, their rematch against Virtus.pro in the Upper Bracket Finals ended like their first match, in a 2-0 defeat.
Facing Vikin.gg in the Lower Bracket Finals, OG made quick work of them to secure one more chance against Virtus.pro in the Grand Finals, and this showing was very different from the last. In the Upper Bracket Finals, OG fought long and hard but failed to win a single game, but in the second game of the Grand Finals, they showed just how well they had adapted to their opponent’s playstyle.
In half an hour, OG took game two. In even less time, they secured game three. The European team was on fire, and it looked like they had the win in their hands. However, Virtus.pro turned things around in game four.
Both teams now had two games each, and the winner of the next would win it all. Game five was the longest in the Grand Finals, and although OG tried their hardest, they failed to snatch victory from Virtus.pro.
The last ESL One Los Angeles 2020 - Online Championship combined competitors from the CIS and Europe regions in a $200,000 tournament. Running from April 4-19, it pit 15 invited teams and the winner of the Qualifier event, Chicken Fighters, against one another.
There are currently no new details regarding the Dota Pro Circuit 2019/2020 season.
