One of the most pressing issues in Minecraft was that you couldn't use a smart phone in it to order pizzas, send texts or video chat with friends. Verizon has created a new Minecraft app to fix that.

According to the official site: "Verizon endeavored to solve these problems by building a phone in Minecraft that can actually connect to the real world without leaving the game. With the help of Wieden+Kennedy and BlockWorks, we built custom functionality that lets players browse the Internet, make video calls and create a selfie stick to send an MMS selfie to a friend."

Players "grow" both a gigantic cell phone and cell tower by crafting special seeds. Both items - which are Godzilla sized compared to the rest of the items in the Minecraft world - spring up from the Earth, and are fully functional. Players can do video chats, browse the web, make phone calls, and text friends with the virtual phone. (In fact, the player who is calling from within Minecraft appears as their in-game avatar on the other person's phone.)

To demonstrate the app, YouTubers SethBlind and CaptainSparklez demoed it in their respective videos.
