Vega Squadron have signed former Natus Vincere player Akbar "SoNNeikO" Butaev to replace Artsiom "fng" Barshack, the organization announced Friday.

SoNNeikO played for Na`Vi since 2015, but was kicked off the roster after the team failed to qualify for The Boston Major. While with Na`Vi, he attended both The International 2015 and 2016, and helped them take first place at StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2 as well as second place at ESL One Frankfurt 2016 and 13th-16th at TI6.

"SoNNeikO is the only player with whom we could substitute Fng," Vega CEO Aelexei Kondakov stated in a press release. "Every team would be glad to see him in their jerseys but he chose to move to Vega Squadron.

"I hope that with him in our squad the results of Vega will improve. As for the second newcomer we are right in the middle of his transfer and will announce him as soon as we deal up with all contractual relationships."

fng was dropped from Vega following the team's failure to qualify for The Boston Major, despite being one of the teams directly invited to the CIS qualifier.

"I am glad to become a part of this team and will make everything to achieve maximum results," SoNNeikO stated in a press release. "I hope to come up to fan's expectation and I will not let them down."
