Valve has set a deadline of April 10, 2020, for RMR proposals from tournament organizers, according to a report from HLTV.
Valve announced yesterday that the first Regional Major Ranking (RMR) would be the ESL One: Road to Rio event, replacing the original invitations method. The Road to Rio event separates the competition into six regions with a certain number of teams from each region advancing to the minor based on their placement, and it offers a $255,000 prize pool. Teams that got into the Minors or qualified for the Major before it was rescheduled will automatically be included in the Road to Rio event.
In the report from HLTV, Valve states that the "window to finalize the RMR event calendar is very small," and it encourages tournament organizers to submit their proposals to host an ESL One Rio 2020 qualifying event as soon as possible. The second qualifying event is looking to take place sometime between the player break and mid-October. The second RMR Series will also have a $255,000 prize pool.
Valve also stated that they were open to "any number of proposals," and that "there's no requirement that each region has the same number of RMR competitions."
