Dota 2 fans are eagerly waiting for the first post-TI major balance patch. Usually, Valve doesn’t announce the updates beforehand, but it has made an exception and dropped the news that it will release 7.20 on November 19, the next day after The Kuala Lumpur Major.
This is a mature decision by the developers, albeit it slightly cuts into the popularity of the event. Knowing that the tournament is played on “the old patch” many viewers will decide not to pay attention to it. Unfortunately, Valve can’t release the patch before the major because it can’t expect good games when teams need to adapt their strategies on the fly.
The Kuala Lumpur Major will be held from 09 to 18 November with a GSL-format group stage and a double elimination bracket. The event prize pool sports $1,000,000 and 15,000 DPC points with $350,000 and 4,950 DPC points going to the winners. 16 teams will take part in the event and each is guaranteed at least $10,000 and 75 DPC points.
