Unikrn became one of the most talked about companies in esports earlier in the year when it raised over $7 million in funding from a series of investors including Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and actor Ashton Kutcher.
The Seattle-based company has now taken another step into the competitive esports scene by signing a female team led by former Epsilon member Melania "Gina" Mylioti.
According to Unikrn, the move aims to provide female gamers with the same conditions as their male counterparts as the team will be the first in the field to play full time.

Rahul Sood, CEO of Unikrn, said the following:
"I have always been a big advocate for women in technology, and since we started Unikrn we've been actively looking to promote women in professional esports.
"We took months to scout the best female competitive CS:GO players in the world to build Team Unikrn.
"In an ideal world, we’d see both men and women competing on the same teams, with and against each other, that’s the future of eSports.
"Team Unikrn is all about professional competition and hopefully it inspires other women to take the step and build a career around eSports."
This is not the first time that Rahul Sood has advocated for gender equality in esports. Back in June, the Unikrn founder and CEO vowed to personally support the first League of Legends LCS team to include a female player on their roster.
Team Unikrn's squad consist of:
- Melania "Gina" Mylioti
- Julia "Julie" Strunkowski
- Perrine "Lalita" Allesiardo
- Sophia "Kim" Benfakir
- Camilla “Parmaviolet” Hart
