Arc System Works has announced that players who own Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] on PlayStation systems will be able to upgrade to Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] next year through a combination of free updates, discounts and paid DLC.

With the frequency and manner with which games receive patches, this could be the start of a new business model. New releases in a franchise could soon have new games additionally launch as add ons for those that own the previous game (looking at you EA).

PlayStation 4 owners will have their UNIST copy update to UNICLR via a free patch. Still, additional content like the fighter Londrekia will have to be bought to get the full experience.

On the other hand, PlayStation 3 and Vita players will have to pay a discounted amount to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 UNICLR. It's a steep price drop too, from  ¥5,280 ($48) to ¥2,000 ($18).

Since UNIST has never been available on the Nintendo Switch, no such deal exists for it. UNICLR will be the first Under Night released on a Nintendo console. As for PC owners, they will have to wait till the next port of the game arrives.

Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] is being developed for PlayStation 4 and Switch. Its Japanese and North American release is scheduled for February 20, 2020, while Europe will get it early 2020.
