Ubisoft is reportedly working on an RPG of a smaller scale in comparison to its traditional huge games. The project in question is rumoured to be titled Orpheus, and its visual style inherits a lot of similarities from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The initial information about the proposed new game was revealed during Kotaku’s podcast Splitscreen. Jason Schreier shared the talks he’s heard about Orpheus, which is likely to be announced during Ubisoft’s press conference at E3 2019. He later clarified (via Twitter) that the game’s similarity to Breath of the Wild was reduced to visual style instead of a scale. In other words, it’s a small and – most likely – an experimental project like the ones we’ve seen before from the company. This might be another “passionately developed” game, which serves the purpose of offering creative freedom to Ubisoft’s studios between working on major releases – for instance, it was the case for Child of Light, Valiant Hearts, and other small, yet very exciting and deep projects.
Regarding Orpheus, there’s literally nothing known about the title right now. We might only share the speculation based on the very name of the game that it might be somewhat connected to the Greek legend of Orpheus – a travelling musician who was part of the Argonauts’ crew.
