Twitch banned streamers for the "Naga" word ⚡⚡⚡ Esports and gaming news, analytics, reviews on WePlay! The latest news on WePlay!

Twitch banned several users in the World of Warcraft segment for using the word "Naga". Apparently, Twitch staff considered that the monster's species in the Blizzard MMORPG is a euphemism for the forbidden N-word due to its consonance.

The case started with the Savix_TV stream, during which the player, after killing the creep in World of Warcraft, said the phrase: "I shut the Naga lord." Chat picked up the phrase and started spamming "Shoot some nagas". At the same time, Savix explained that the original clip is hard to understand correctly out of context. After that, several users complained that they were given a permanent Twitch ban for using the word "Naga".

It is not yet clear whether these bans will be canceled, but we have to warn other WoW streamers that they may be at risk under the watchful and not always fair supervision of the streaming platform.

By the way, this case isn't the first time of Twitch staff mistaken: recently, they have missed a lot of adult content in the Artifact segment. This led to a temporary increase of Artifact's popularity on Twitch. But all the "cleaning" ended well, and spammers/intruders were defeated.
