In a recent announcement, Game Director Ion Hazzikostas and Exec. Producer J. Allen Brack revealed some of the additional content coming with the Virtual Ticket experience. Ticket holders, alongside BlizzCon attendees, will get to log in to the World of WarCraft Classic servers, which are expected to go live upon the conclusion of the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2018 on the 2nd of November.
Announced at BlizzCon 2017, World of WarCraft Classic is Blizzard’s response to the community-wide demand for a generic Vanilla WoW experience. So far, only privately-run servers (in all cases deemed illegal from an IP standpoint) offered players the chance to play on previous versions of the critically-acclaimed MMORPG. Nostalrius, which opened on the 28th of February 2015, was eventually forced by Blizzard Entertainment to shut down on the 24th of April 2016. The server was one of the most popular of its kind, with over 150,000 active accounts at any given time. The massive community outcry that followed led to an open discussion centred around the possibility of Blizzard launching ‘Legacy’ servers.
