Troy Baker is one of the most famous and talented voice actors in the gaming industry. You can remember him as Joel in The Last of Us, Bruce Wayne in Batman Arkham, Pagan Min in Far Cry 4 or Rhys in Tales from The Borderlands. And exactly Rhys is the newsmaker here. In the announcing Borderlands 3 trailer fans immediately noticed their favourite Telltale Games project's hero, but soon found out that another person would be engaged in dubbing it.
Baker recently shared the reason for his refusal while communicating with fans. He said that initially he was not against returning, but in the end, he became disillusioned with Gearbox policy:
"I'm sorry to break it to y'all, [but] that isn't me.

I’ve never done this before, but I would love for Gearbox to know that it’s not about me, it’s about that character. If they’re going to bring back characters from Telltale Borderlands, it should be the people that originated the characters."
Randy Pitchford cited a similar reason via Twitter:
By the way, in case you didn't know, Troy Baker has a YouTube channel, where he plays retro games with Nolan North (Uncharted, Destiny, Deadpool). Well, there's a lot of fun there, not only retro-games — it's a full-time comedy gaming talk show coming out weekly. Check them out!
