Topanga returns this year with a new name but the same league format, bringing Japan's best Street Fighter V players together.
Topanga Championship 2020 will have two sessions, the preliminary league which began today and an offline first-to-seven, which continues in March. The preliminary leg has 18 players split between two groups where they compete in best-of-three round-robin matches.
The top three players from each group will then advance to the second leg of the league. The offline first-to-seven portion will take place over three days, from March 13-15, 2020. Meanwhile, the preliminary leg will end on February 23.
In attendance are greats like Daigo "The Beast" Umehara, Atsushi "Fujimura" Fujimura, Hajime "Tokido" Taniguchi, Ryo "Dogura" Nozaki, Ryo "Nauman" Sato, Naoto "sako" Sako, and Yusuke "Momochi" Momochi. Each player was required to pick a primary character with the option of a secondary as well.
