Hajime "Tokido" Taniguchi is known for his murderous Akuma, but the new Street Fighter V: Champion Edition changes have made the master of dark hado considerably weaker than we've ever seen him.
With the versatility of his moveset, Akuma has had to accept a few handicaps like a smaller health bar. Yet, Tokido is one of the few that have been able to place well in tournaments using him consistently. Now with his recent nerfs, it seems like that might change.
Tokido has recently been online, using Urien to devastating effect, which is why he has everyone wondering if he'll be ditching Akuma for Urien. It's clear he's not perfect yet, but Tokido's cunning and ruthlessness are already showing in his use of the character. Considered a strong fighter in Season 4, Urien is now even stronger after receiving a couple of small buffs.
Brussels Challenge marks the beginning of the Capcom Pro Tour 2020 in March, with the meta still taking shape. The recent update has changed things up quite a bit, with several players taking an interest in other characters. Gill's addition to the roster might even bring about the return of Dominique "SonicFox" McLean to competitive Street Fighter V.
Whether Tokido plans to replace Akuma completely or add Urien as a counterpick, he's certainly got the skills and talent to pull it off. You can check out SFV Fan's compilation of online matches between Tokido's Urien and a few Grand Masters below.
