Croteam and Devolver Digital today informs us all The Talos Principle will not only be out on consoles (PlayStation 4, Nvidia Shield) later this year, but will have an episodic expansion as well in the Spring. Set at an unannounced price and date, The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna compiles in four episodes (staggered or all-at-once release not noted) with the most advanced and challenging puzzles yet. Road to Gehenna follows Uriel, Elohim’s messenger, to delve into a strange, new simulation. The press release also states the story is about “…a mission of mercy and redemption in an attempt to free the souls of the damned at all costs”.
Original writers on The Talos Principle of Tom Jubert and Jonas Kyratzes return to plot out the story again in Road to Gehenna. This time they wanted “to revisit the world of The Talos Principle and deliver new characters and a new world with its own history and culture.” Jubert adds “With Road to Gehenna [sic] we have created an all-new narrative which both branches off from and expands the original character’s journey.”
The Talos Principle slipped right in 2014 back in December and yielded positive reception, noting its simplicity in retrospect and satisfyingly difficult solving.
