Minecraft has come a long way to become the game we know now, but many of you who have missed the older days might be wondering what the game looked like then – in the era of the very first experimental builds. Wonder no more, as Mojang has just released Minecraft Classic for free.
The game is going to turn 10 years old rather soon (in less than two weeks), and the best way to celebrate is to let the community enjoy the legacy of Minecraft – in the form of the original build. Minecraft Classic comes straight from 2009 and is playable for free in your browser. This version was more of a proof of concept serving as an example of what might be achieved with the initial idea. Back then, the game only had 32 types of blocks and nothing even remotely complicated in terms of mechanics when you compare Minecraft Classic to the contemporary build. Still, it was a great game – and this very old version is responsible for changing the looks of the gaming industry by inventing a whole new genre. Honestly, Minecraft was and still is exceptional, even though it was spoiled by kids a bit.
Interestingly, this is just a part of the celebration. Mojang encourages the Minecraft community to share their memories of the game. The devs believe many of you have something to recall from the 10 years that the game’s been around. And you can find more on the matter here.
