In a huge forum post, the developers of Elite Dangerous from the Frontier studio revealed a lot of detailed information regarding the so-called April Update, which is scheduled to release on April 23. Interestingly, it mostly focuses on making Elite a bit friendlier for the new players who are unfamiliar with the challenges of the gameplay.
The main addition of the coming update is the Beginner’s Zone. This is a separate closed area, which can be only accessed by the newly created characters – until they reach their first Combat, Trade or Exploration rank. The Zone provides the easiest missions out there so that new players can get the idea of how to play Elite Dangerous. Moreover, across the whole game world all the players, who haven’t reached the first rank, will also be granted with a reduced rebuy cost. Another great addition to the game in terms of making it more welcoming and comfortable is Advanced Docking Computer, which is the newest version of Docking Computer – but with the ability to automatically undock from the stations. Besides, all the relevant information about the in-game mechanics will be gathered in the Pilot’s Handbook – the source of much-needed tips and tricks.
There’s a lot of other stuff in the huge post by the developers, and we highly recommend you to give it a look. Regarding the new content, we’ll have to wait a bit longer. Until 2020, to be exact. For now, Frontier is focusing on improving the existing parts of the Elite Dangerous experience and making quality-of-life changes.
