Nintendo has just teased the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character in a new Nintendo Direct Mini. The 30 minute YouTube video provided fans with an update on when to expect the next challenger and teased their identity.
The 6th wave of paid Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC comes from ARMS, Nintendo’s quirky fighting game in which you control characters that use extendable arms to fight. The specific character wasn’t mentioned, but the game does have a couple of popular ones, like Twintelle and her powerful silvery locks. However, Spring Man is eliminated from the list of possibilities since he already exists in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as an Assist Trophy.
Nintendo states that development for the new fighter has been extended. This is most likely due to the coronavirus outbreak and the difficulties it has created around the world. It appears they plan to reveal and launch the character around the same time in June, so we have a few months of waiting ahead.
In celebration of the news, the developer is providing all Nintendo Online Service subscribers with a free trial of ARMS. It will be available from today, March 26, at 9 am PST until 11: 59 pm PST on April 6.
Fans can pre-purchase Fighters Pass 2 for $29.99, which will give them access to all six upcoming DLC characters as they become available. It also includes a new stage, BGM for each character, and a bonus Mii Swordfighter costume.
