The next major update for Elite Dangerous is expected in 2020

Elite Dangerous is a huge space sim, but nothing will stop the game from expanding even more in terms of new content. Frontier’s project received huge updates on a yearly basis to keep players engaged, both new ones and veterans. Sadly, this year we won’t see any huge additions to the game.

Frontier Developments has recently unveiled its plans in regards to the new content on the horizon. It turns out that we’ll have to wait a year and a half to get another huge update with plentiful of improvements. In other words, 2020 is the year to look forward to. This doesn’t necessarily mean that 2019 will be poor on updates of a smaller scale. Instead, Frontier plans to release patches and tweaks to adjust and improve the existing content throughout the year while we are all waiting for the next huge expansion.

Regarding the plans for 2020, the aforementioned huge update will bring a lot of changes to the core mechanics as well as many quality of life improvements and, obviously, new engaging content. Whether the players will stay satisfied with the existing content for such a long period remains to be seen.
