Activision is far from abandoning its profitable tradition of releasing a new Call of Duty game annually, and it’s just a matter of time until we hear about the next instalment that is about to hit the shelves this autumn. Moreover, the reveal is happening rather soon – in a month or two.
The company has officially confirmed that the newest game would be announced by the end of June. This particular Call of Duty is being worked on by the Infinity Ward studio, and the build has already reached the playable state. The game has been pitched to professional esports players during the closed demonstration, which means that it’s nearing the final state. The game will most likely debut at E3 2019, although Activision will hardly make the decision to hold another dedicated event as the company is in the process of stabilizing its financial state after a series of layoffs. As for the possible theme, the game is strongly rumoured to be Modern Warfare 4, which is unsurprising given that this subseries has always been warded by Infinity Ward (yup, we love puns.) The story might serve as a prequel featuring Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley.
There’s another rumour in regards to the inevitable release of the newest Call of Duty this year. The game will be most likely packed with another remaster as Activision is trying to make every penny out of the franchise. This time it’s going to be Modern Warfare 2, which was rated by PEGI in March.
