This is going to be the first Dota 2 Major in current competitive season

PGL, EveryGoodGame, and ImbaTV have announced a new Dota 2 Major which will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this November. The tournament features $1 million prize pool and 16 teams from six competitive regions.

Seems like this time tournament organizers don’t want to hold a short event with 3-4 days of dual stream and a barrage of games. The Kuala Lumpur Major will be going on for the better part of 2 weeks and will be open to public in Axiata Arena for 3 days only. We are very excited for a Major like this, with competitors gradually getting into local rhythm and overcoming jet lag.

European Open qualifiers for The Kuala Lumpur Major will start next week, so there’s not much time left for the teams to finish post-TI reshuffle. Organizers have scheduled 2 open qualifiers in each region, for European ones to take place on September 10 and 13 respectively.

PGL hasn’t revealed any plans to directly  invite teams to the competition. This means that no one, not even OG, will have a free pass to the event. It’s also not clear if there will be second round of qualifiers with direct seeds.

Another thing to note is the timezone of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). During TI European viewers stayed awake late into the night but to watch the November tournament fans will have to wake up very early.
