The International is rapidly approaching its closure

The third day of The International delivered a lot of surprises (such as EG and LGD showing their strength and Vici losing to Team Secret) but what waits ahead?

OpTic vs. Virtus.Pro

Meeting history of these teams counts 12 maps so far and OpTic won only one of them. Half of those matches went beyond the 38 minute mark, while VP took first blood and first 10 frags in 8 out 12 situations. Virtus.Pro fans must be happy about this state of things.

OpTic might get upper hand thanks to flexibility of their picks, although they’ll have difficult time catching the opponents off guard. 33 always has Broodmother and Arc Warden in reserve, his team might start using the push strategy or try their luck with the Drow Ranger strat. Anyway, Virtus.Pro is a tough enemy to counter but nothing is impossible, as this TI has already showed us.

VGJ.Storm vs. Team Secret

After roster changes, these duo met on 8 maps and won equal amount of wins. However, VGJ.Storm won in overtime matches during the group stage. Similar to above-mentioned matches, half of the matches lasted more than 38 minutes and Team Secret were the ones taking first blood and first 10 frags in 7 out of 8 cases.

VGJ.Storm has high chances to get into the top-6 teams if Puppey doesn’t think his pick through properly. You have to agree that some of Secret’s losses were caused by bad interaction between the heroes they picked in the combo. Or by the fact they became irrelevant later at a certain stage during the game. For instance, first map versus Vici, they didn’t have heroes to finish the game – and that was skillfully fixed in the second game. That’s why so much depends on how Team Secret’s captain will approach the pick.

Evil Geniuses vs. OpTic/Virtus.Pro

EG’s frustrating loss to OG can seriously affect the team’s chemistry and morale. Have you seen the look n0tail gave to Fly? He almost bored a hole in him! Regardless, Evil Geniuses still stand very strong, mostly thanks to how unbelievably powerful SumaiL and s4 are. We think that Virtus.Pro would be the worst “nightmare” for them to face, unsurprisingly though as they repeatedly knocked out EG from all kinds of tournaments before.
