A community manager from Respawn Entertainment made a lengthy post on Reddit, outlining the initial changes to the balance of Apex Legends. In the update, three developers explained their thought process which led to the decisions they made.

We make less frequent, better tested, higher impact balance changes in order to minimize the impacts on your time spent mastering the game.

As usually the case, the initial balance changes come in the form of nerfs – in this case to the weapons and the characters (legends).

The devs explained that energy weapons and ammo are hard to find and consequently difficult to master.

Respawn addressed many crash errors of the game, though it didn’t comment on any of the problems outlined by GrndPaGaming in a recent interview:

  • The cursor going to the other screen while looting with a multi-screen setup
  • Ally names disappearance in the scope view
  • The triangle above a downed teammate creating a hiding spot for the enemy.

The developers promised to keep an eye on the balance and metagame and keep introducing changes throughout Season 1, which should be announced soon.

The first Apex Legends patch note can be found here.
